City of Redding Website Update & Migration

CLIENT

City of Redding

OBJECTIVE

The City of Redding Website Update & Migration project aimed to overhaul the outdated website, address usability issues, and improve functionality to better serve the community and city employees.

PROCESS

Collaborating closely with the City's Senior Marketing Specialist and Communications Manager, I was key in meeting with department liaisons to gather requirements for the new website platform. Together, we created a comprehensive sitemap to restructure the information architecture, ensuring it met users' diverse needs.

I contributed to the design process by creating multiple iterations of site mockups, which underwent rigorous review and refinement. Working with the web platform provider, Revize, we finalized the website's visual design and functional layout to enhance user experience and accessibility.

During the content migration phase, my team and I meticulously reviewed every site page, addressing errors, broken links, and usability issues to ensure a seamless transition to the new platform.

OUTCOME

The redesigned City of Redding website was successfully launched in October 2023, marking a significant improvement in usability and functionality. The project received positive feedback from users and community members alike, enhancing accessibility to vital city services and information.

KEY LEARNINGS
This project deepened my understanding of user-centered design principles and the importance of collaboration in large-scale website redesigns. It reinforced the value of thorough testing and iterative refinement to deliver a high-quality digital experience that meets both organizational and user expectations.
